Blog Posts-Unit 7 Post #1 (Post by Sunday, March 3)PART ONE: Using the data collected over the past week regarding the number of miles traveled, use your vehicle's mileage per gallon and calculate the amount of CO2 emitted into the atmosphere and the amount of oxygen taken out. (1 gallon of gasoline= 20 lbs of CO2 and 21 lbs of O2) PART TWO: Read the essay "Jeremiad for Belarus" and without knowing much about the topic, explain whether we should be pursuing nuclear power as a source of energy production PART THREE: Watch the TED Talk "The True Cost of Oil" by Garth Lenz and compare with the USA Today article about U.S. senators pushing for the KeystoneXL Pipeline. Write a reflection to the selections.

PART I: Complete the "Home Energy Saver" Internet Activity (see the document below)...When you are finished, screenshot the results and post on your blog. If you cannot figure out how to do this part of the blog post, then screen shot and email it. If you still cannot figure this out, print it out...If you can't do any of those, then, ummmm, I don't know. :)
PART II: "Conventional-Type" Homework (Look up and tell me about it)
A) Provide relevant information on the 3 most famous nuclear power plant disasters B) Investigate the demise of the public streetcar and explain how General Motors & Standard Oil were involved C) Provide 2 advantages and 2 disadvantages for the following (Petroleum, Natural Gas, Coal, Nuclear). Please use the following format: "This kind of homework is stupid, but on the other hand if I don't/can't do it then I will fail" D) Compare and Contrast the Exxon-Valdez Oil Spill and the BP Deepwater Horizon Oil Spill E) What is Yucca Mountain? Why did President Obama shut the project down? F) What is PASSIVE SOLAR HOME DESIGN and describe 3 methods of implementing. PART III: Service Learning Project March Update: Provide a detailed update on your progress on your service learning project. Also, reflect on your experiences thus far.
